11 Seconds…

30 04 2007

Which is about the 2 lenghts of the boats we row. That was how much I was behind Lassi on this weekends longdistance race on Öresjö. That put me in 2nd place and about 50 seconds in front of the rest.
I was really unpleased with the largest part of my race, but I just kept giong and did not think the result would be any good. Needles to say I was surprised to be ‘just’ a mere 11 seconds behind the best in the world on longdistance Lassi!

Time to race…

25 04 2007

So, and suddenly it is time for this seasons first race. I should have done a race in Czech but as I had to cut my visit short there due to a unhappy stumach muscle I have 0 race experience this season so far. We start the season with longdistance racing. My first ever race was in Falkenberg, 4 years ago,. Most of the rowers in Sweden still remember my debut. Than still used to my triathlon racing I was used to start races swimming. This however seemed not good for rowing. Yeah,..you guessed it, I capsized more or less on the starting line. The judged gave me an other starting slot att the end of the pack, and I managed to row myself to a third place. A fun start of my rowing career.

Weekend at SRF

22 04 2007

Weekends are great. Why? Cause its fun with more boats on the water and its is so relaxing to hang out in the sun chatting about whatever between trainings. The trick is though to bring something to eat…the sandwiches at the club are good, but they dont fill any holes. I call them airwiches. Friday we thought it would be nice to eat some good old nassi goreng. Using grand ma’s recipe it is a sort of guaranteed succes. The best thing is the left overs. So here I sit in the sun eating a mountain of nassi which was left from the day before…it does not get better than that.

We keep your promises…

21 04 2007

Yesterday the funniest thing happened…

Henke and I were out on the water both in singles. He thinks its a good iddea to coach a bit from an other single so he gets more direct feedback of what I am doing etc… The weather was total crap. It was more than storm (18m/s) white horsen on the water and freezing cold. One of those days that changing to training gear just takes a long time. Looking out of the window of the changing room…is that wind getting less now?..yeah, that tree stopped moving…whhoooossh, shit no. Read the rest of this entry »

Back to the oars!!!

20 04 2007

Yeah, the last two day I have managed to get a bit more than 50km’s done on the water again! That feels so good. I have done weird excercises for 4 hours a day the last week and results are good. Improving flexibilty, strenghtening small muscles that are neglected otherwise. Peter, the physio he had this fun thing of putting me on a test bike for 3 minutes while gradually increasing the resistance. Than directly after grab a 40kg barbell and do a series of what we ‘complex styrke övning’. That is a endurance strenght excerise that get the muscles burning and the hart pumping. Chinlift, snatch, squat snatch, goodmorning, standup row x 6.
