Day 0 of the world cups are always a very relaxed one.
Rigging the boat and one or two trainings. Mostly just to feel if the feeling is still there. Everybody is rather laid back and the atmosphere is just great! The mountains surrounding the beautifull Rotsee, some withe peaks in the distance, some clouds, some sun, and a lot…a lot of rowing boats. The trainings outings are actually not that nice since the lake is just like a bath tub. Read the rest of this entry »
Yep it is true! The guys that help me get through all the endless 60-70-90 and sometimes even 120 minute sessions on the erg during the winter are coming to pay us a visit in Stockholm! If I would just open my kitchen window on thursday the testosterone loaded mental doping would stream into our appartment instead of thundering out. Yess, they will be playing a stonethrow away from us in the old Olympic stadium.
The Ironic thing is though that I wont be home….leaving for Luceren in a couple of hours.
Managed to find a site where all the concerts can be downloaded for a few bucks so no worries. Meanwile you can see if the Metallica radio works down here.
Absolute favourites on my Ipos right now:
- St Anger
- Frantic
- Seek and Destroy
- Sad but True
Past week was spent in Åhus, a small fishing town in the South of Sweden. Main reason to go here is because Henke spends his summers here. Pretty cool to visit the the place were he has his roots…
We had our own little training camp without any distractions. Thanks to the dreadfull weather with nearly continous downpours there was not much traffic in the harbour. The winds, though strong, were mostly from favourable directions giving us a pretty good stretch of water in the Åhus harbour.
Using the fact that we would be spending so much time together on the water we worked a lot our technical points. Obviously a bit of hard work had to be done as well. Henke was in the Single himself one session a day making it really good fun! Either pushing me on intervalls, or controlling the quality. Realy feels great to be coached by a someone that during flatout 500mtr pieces just ‘paddles’ beside me…in a boat he rowed in the 80’s for the last time.
Louise came down during the weekend. This must have been the most cosy training camp I have been on. Playing with Diede and Tilly, eating out, etc…
Well the million dollar question is obviously…did we get any faster? To be honest…I think so. But we will see. It feels like that if I manage to pull of a, or a few, races in wich I can stick to my plan, and do what I am trained to do, I might just be a tad quicker.
Here we are in the beginning of the harbour. Henrik giving me some more details before doing some 4 minute pieces in 30′
12, 13, 14 th July it is time for the 3rd and final World Cup for this season. The location of the first two varies from year to year,…but the 3rd one is traditionally on the Rotsee in Lucerne, Switzerland. Snowcapped mountains, lush green alp meadows, milka cows, and turqoise water is the scene for this regatta. Read the rest of this entry »
