Heavy weights meeting in Dalarna

30 07 2007

On our way home from Norway, we made a stop over in Dalarna. Louise wanted to do a White water kayak course at Kajaktiv, and I wanted to meetup with Lassi and Sjoerd

They had allready been doing some trainings together and I joined them for two sessions. Good fun, being 3 boats next to eachother working our way up the tricky curbs of Dal Älven. It puts a good edge on each training. Each stroke has to be perfect. Not push as hard you can (it wont hold for 24km’s) but be as smooth as possible and get maximum speed out of everything you do…otherwise…they are gone. Pliggen, Lassis Coach, and Else, Sjoerd’s coach, kept a good eye on us from the motorboat to make sure we wont be clashing into each other. Lassi was particularly worried as I have a bad reputation of being a bit to offensive in my steering on these waters during the yearly Leksand rowing race. A 8km race for mixed doubles in wich Louise and I might participate again this year.
Any way it was nice to meet Sjoerd here in Sweden and fun to be part of their WorldChampionships preps. It feels that there is not much between those two guys…they have a long record of finishing just ahead or just behind eachother.

Pulling up a Churchboat…these monsters being rowed by 20rowers have a long history on Lake Siljan…

Mooie foto’s. Krijg ik ook een idee hoe het daar was. Sjoerds digitale camera heeft nog weinig beelden opgelevert.

Haal door!
