Though rowing might seem like a very simple thing. One movement, requiring not more than muscles and an ocean of endurance. WRONG. Yess, those qualities are an essential part of it, but they are left worthless if not a prefect technique and feeling for the boat and the water is there. A reason that rowers row thousands of kilometes for just that one race. For me it is important to have a picture in my mind of how I want it to look. For me the best rowing position is not totally natural. I have to constantly remind and reset myself to keep the perfect posture so that the driving muscles can do their work at the most efficient. Frida Sevensson, the Swedish star in the ladies single, is for me the biggest inpiration when it comes to the technical side of rowing. Straight back, straight arms, perfect angles at the catch, hugely effective with legs, powerfull finish, in other words…perfect. (my opinion.. )I hope Louise does not crack my head now that she knows that I think of other women while rowing… haha.
