Time to race…

25 04 2007

So, and suddenly it is time for this seasons first race. I should have done a race in Czech but as I had to cut my visit short there due to a unhappy stumach muscle I have 0 race experience this season so far. We start the season with longdistance racing. My first ever race was in Falkenberg, 4 years ago,. Most of the rowers in Sweden still remember my debut. Than still used to my triathlon racing I was used to start races swimming. This however seemed not good for rowing. Yeah,..you guessed it, I capsized more or less on the starting line. The judged gave me an other starting slot att the end of the pack, and I managed to row myself to a third place. A fun start of my rowing career.

So this year, the slowly flowing waters of Ätran in Falkenberg have been exchanged for Öresjö in Borås. Also at the other bloody side of Sweden. I (read Henrik) only decided yesterday eavening that I should race. Training has been going good and I have done some speedwork which did not result in more problems. So now I have 4 days to prepare for 5,5kms of racing. How will this go?! Henrik came with a plan of attack, and it sort of means getting to it on the water…no more nice and easy long distance stuff…but more bursts of speed combined with longer intervalls. Exciting.
More info on the race.
